As we know, Robert is frustrated after weeks of working hard for only 10 cents an hour. He feels used and ignored by Rich Dad, who promised to teach him about money but hasn’t even spoken to him. Encouraged by his real dad to stand up for himself, Robert confronts Rich Dad, accusing him of being cheap and unfair.
But instead of getting angry, Rich Dad tells Robert that he's already been teaching him - just in a different way. That feeling of frustration is the real lesson: most people spend their lives chasing money instead of learning how money can work for them.
Rich Dad says that if Robert keeps thinking money is the problem, he’ll never grow. He must stop blaming others and start thinking differently. Learning how money works takes a different mindset- one that schools and jobs usually don’t teach.
The most surprising part? Rich Dad tells Robert he will now work for no pay at all - because real f inancial education begins when you stop working just for money. The point isn’t about getting paid more - it’s about learning how to stop depending on a paycheck and instead make money work for you.
Robert and his friend Mike have been working for three weeks without getting paid. Robert keeps it a secret from his poor dad because he knows his dad wouldn’t understand why he’s working for free. Even Robert himself doesn’t fully understand yet.
Despite missing out on things like baseball and comic books, he sticks with the job. Then, their “rich dad” - Mike’s father, who is mentoring them, shows up and takes the boys for ice cream and a walk. He asks them how it’s going and whether they’ve learned anything.
