Summary:

A significant step in bolstering India's economic and energy security in the Gulf is the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Oman and India. With dependable access to petrochemicals, natural gas, and crude oil, the agreement offers a stable foundation for trade and energy cooperation. Oman is a reliable commercial and energy gateway during regional disturbances because of its advantageous location beyond the Strait of Hormuz. The CEPA increases India's export competitiveness by providing zero-duty market access, streamlined regulations, and lower compliance costs. India purchased US$7.2 billion, mostly energy products, and exported US$4 billion worth of goods to Oman in FY26. It is anticipated that the agreement will strengthen long-term strategic cooperation, increase commerce, and increase market access in West Asia.
