Through the second National Seafood Skill Olympiad, which MPEDA is hosting during Seafood Expo Bharat 2026, India is bolstering its seafood processing industry. The program encourages increased value addition in seafood exports while fostering innovation, quality enhancement, and skill development. Over 2,500 professionals received training from MPEDA through 50 speciality programs prior to the event, and the best 10 finalists competed nationally for awards and cash prizes. Over 325 stalls will be present at Seafood Expo Bharat 2026, which is expected to draw about 5,000 industry participants. With the help of 670 processing facilities, India's seafood exports hit a record Rs. 74,267 crore in 2025–2026. Through sustained investment and innovation, MPEDA hopes to raise value-added marine products to 25% of all exports by 2030.
