At a cost of Rs. 27 crore, Indian Railways has authorised the installation of Kavach, an indigenous Automatic Train Protection system, along 631 route km of the East Coast Railway. As part of Kavach's statewide development through the use of an LTE-based communication network, the project will cover six important railway sections. Through continuous train monitoring and automated braking, the technology enhances railway safety by preventing signal passing at hazard, speeding, and crashes. Additionally, Kavach will improve operating effectiveness, dependability, and timeliness, particularly in inclement weather like heavy fog. In addition to helping Indian Railways modernise its infrastructure, the program will help create a national railway network that is safer, quicker, more effective, and robust for future transportation demands.
