India's first bullet train project, the 508-kilometer Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) line, is almost finished and will serve as the basis for a uniform high-speed rail network. The train, which can reach up to 350 kmph, will take around one hour and fifty-eight minutes to get from Mumbai to Ahmedabad. In August 2027, the first operational segment between Surat and Vapi is anticipated to open. Building on this experience, India has proposed seven new high-speed corridors encompassing over 4,000 km, intending to boost connectivity, cut travel time, strengthen industry, and support long-term economic growth.
