PM Surya Ghar: Within two years of its introduction, the Muft Bijli Yojana has surpassed 40 lakh beneficiary families, becoming a significant force behind the expansion of residential solar in India. By December 2026, the program is anticipated to have more than 75 lakh beneficiaries, according to Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi. The Utility-Linked Aggregation approach has accelerated the uptake of rooftop solar, and over 65 lakh applications are in the works. The program performed at its peak in May 2026, when 3.16 lakh installations were finished. Over one crore families have been registered, 33 lakh systems have been installed, and 17 lakh households have achieved zero electricity costs thanks to the program, which was started in February 2024 with an investment of Rs. 75,021 crore.
