One of the largest overseas acquisitions by an Indian pharmaceutical business, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., announced the purchase of US-based Organon & Co. in an all-cash deal valued ₹10.86 lakh crore (US$11.75 billion). The acquisition, which has been approved by both boards, is anticipated to completion by early 2027 and gives ₹1,294.16 (US$14) per share. Through the acquisition, Sun Pharma now has more than 70 Organon products in women's health, general medications, and biosimilars in more than 140 countries. It will improve Sun's standing in niche markets like biologics, oncology, and dermatology. Internal accruals and bank funding will be used to finance the transaction, increasing size, diversification, and long-term profitability globally.
